While thinking about my story the first thing that came to mind was 1950s Hollywood glam! Picture a black-and-white image of a women sitting in front of her vanity with impeccable posture. The camera blinks across her outfit showcasing a long flowing robe and feathered slippers. Perhaps she is getting ready to host a party, or better yet, waiting to catch a breeze off her balcony as she sips bubbly from her champagne coupe with a long cigarette holder in hand. What was a fantasy to many during that time has now become reality to the modern-day woman.
This look and lifestyle has gone from old Hollywood estates to Hollywood streets. A way of life once reserved for a select few on the big screen, or for that matter, their big homes is now available to the discerning eye and serving as eye candy for people watchers everywhere. The woman wanting the big screen look outside of the confines of production studios and gated homes is now easily accessible.
With an appreciation for timeless style, I decided to mix the old and the new. This long flowing robe by Christina Economou bridged the gap for me between that old glam and new edge. The slits cut below the waist displayed a departure from the traditional silhouette creating movement and a confident flow. The elegance of the look never left as everything above the belted waist felt soft and sophisticated calling on the spirit of times past, and of a stiff cocktail. I threw in some modern-day edge with a skinny black jean. The pink feathered slippers were an ode to the sexy and confident actress of the 50s with contemporary design and construction. My outfit was nearly complete, all I needed now was coupe of bubbly and a long Chesterfield, or better yet... my Slightly Dirty Martini. Cheers! – Slight Flirty xoxo
