Many people think that leaves change color when in fact they loose it. The lack of chlorophyll kills off the green making room for brown, red, and orange hues. Lying hidden beneath the surface these colors emerge to take center stage during Autumn. Such was the case at Katie Gallagher's presentation, whose Hallows Eve themed collection featured bone colored walls and a spotlight resembling the sun shining down on the long stemmed beauties rooted in place on a bark colored floor. Fall had fallen on this dark collection which seemed to have killed a part of itself revealing its true colors.
I was immediately drawn to the pieces with orange that made their way through the darkness. Bombers, long skirts with leg-barring slits, and dresses stood still focusing your attention on the pop of color here and there. And like the intricate veins on foliage, the textures and fabrics spread themselves throughout each look assuring you that there was life after all. The leggings and tights were sheer, stitched, solid, texturized and brought versatility below the belt. I was left with the impression that life and death coexisted here and that there is no difference between orange and black.
Below are a few of my favorite looks of the night:) I hope you enjoy! xoxo – Slightly Flirty c/o Gina Papa.
