There is a major trend in the fashion industry encouraging consumers to feel closer to brands and their products. A combination of social media influencers sporting coveted unreleased pieces and lackluster retail sales have prompted many fashion houses to rethink how they unveil and sell their collections.
Last year at Givenchy’s FW15 show, 1,200 lucky guests from the general public were able to partake in the runway show for an up close and personal look at the new collection. Today, fashion houses are getting creative (no pun intended) with consumer facing, instantaneously getting looks off the runway and into coveting hands. Brands such as Tom Ford and Burberry have launched runway-to-consumer campaigns in hopes of attracting the NOW buyer and gaining devoted followers.
During SS17 New York Fashion Week, I watched show after show of looks that I would have loved to take home immediately, but very few brands gave me that option, until I tuned into Alexander Wang. I was pleasantly surprised to see the closing of Wang’s show end with a runway walk of pieces in collaboration with Adidas that would be made available for immediate purchase the very next day! I jumped at the chance of getting something from the collection and was able to get my hands on some amazing pieces. I am very excited to share this look with you. I hope you enjoy! -xx
PS: It doesn’t end here! Wait until I tell you about the custom graffiti pieces I was able to get from Alexander Wang, made especially for me, the very next weekend:) Stay tuned for Part 2 of the #WangOver for more details.
